Some good news from Transition Loughborough this evening: we’ve just picked up a £500 cheque from Loughborough University. The funding comes from the University’s “Inside Out Fund” which aims to help University staff develop community projects in the local area. Our grant was part of over £200K that the University has donated to good causes around the area over the past few years.
The cheque was presented to us by Professor Robert Allison, the University’s Vice-Chancellor at a short informal ceremony. The money is destined to buy cycle maintenance equipment and allow us to hire community centre rooms for cycle workshops. This means we’ll be able to replicate the successful bike maintenance workshops we’ve run on campus out in the town and hopefully reach more of the local population. The University is very keen on encouraging sustainable transport in the area, so TL Transport Group’s cycle workshops are a great match.
We’ll keep you all posted on when and where these workshops will be taking place – hopefully we’ll be able to have them all around the town. Many thanks to Loughborough University for their support!
