Just a quick note to advertise some forthcoming Transition Loughborough meetings and events.
This Wednesday, 12th November, the Transport group will be meeting at Sue’s house at 7.30pm for their monthly discussion about how we can help people get around the town with less ecological impact. We’re being asked to provide input to the redesign of the area of Ashby Road between Storer Road & Sainsburys, and hopefully we’ll be joined by some local cycle campaigners to talk through potential ideas.
On Thursday 13th November the Potato Day group are meeting at Caroline’s house at 7pm to continue with their work on getting our new Potato Day event on 31st January set up and running. If you’re interested in helping pop along to have a chat, and don’t forget that the order forms are on our website for those potato, bean, pea, onion, garlic and shallot pre-orders!
The following week sees the Energy Group meeting at 8pm on Tuesday 18th November in the coffee lounge in Rosebery St Peters Community Centre on Storer Road. This is the last meeting we’ll be holding before the Low Energy Homes Event on Saturday 22nd November so we’ll be doing last minute planning and arrangements for that.
Thursday 20th November we move to Fearon Hall for the Winter Feast celebration. Everyone is invited to come along to share home grown/cooked food, enjoy some entertainment and socialise with like minded folk. If you can bring and share some food that will be great, but even if you can’t come along and join with us in sharing all the achievements we’ve had this year.
Lastly on 22nd November we have the Low Energy Homes Event itself! This is being run by the Energy Group with a grant from the Centre for Sustainable Energy and is intended to help people make simple, cheap changes to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and help cut their fuel bills. We’ll have experts on hand, insulation & draught proofing products to demonstrate, and be able to provide help with reading your energy bill and switching suppliers. Its a FREE event, and we’ll even have some free refreshments available!
Doors open at 1pm and we finish at 4pm. We’ve got a talk by Tina Holt, from Transition West Bridgford, who is an expert in fitting energy saving options to existing homes. She can provide information on everything from simple, free draught exluding up to high cost whole building renovations so come along early to get a place for that (first come, first served!).
