Just a quick a note to say that we’re doing apple pressings at two community events this weekend. The first is today (Saturday 18th October) on the Loughborough University campus. We’re guests of the LAGS student gardening group this afternoon (12-5pm) at their gardens at the rear of car park 5 (ask for directions at the security gatehouse on Epinal Way if you don’t know where it is). We’ll be pressing apples the staff and students have collected from around the campus, but feel free to bring your own if you’ve some excess you’d like to turn into juice. Please bring bottles as well if you want to take some juice away – we ran through quite a lot at the pressings we did there yesterday! As well as the apple pressing the event has a walk around the campus Fruit Route from 12am and lots of harvest related home made food.
Then tomorrow (Sunday 19th October) we’ll be heading over to Old Dalby with our press to help the locals press their village apple harvest. If you live nearby and have excess apples you’d like to try pressing into juice bring them along and add them to the pile! Again we’ll need people to bring clean bottles with them as well. We’ll be based in the Old Dalby Scout hut, with the event running from about 10.30am until 4pm (or when we’ve run out of apples!).
