We’ve got meetings coming up this week for two of our sub-groups:
On Tuesday evening from 7pm we have an Energy Group meeting. This will be taking place in St Peter’s Community Centre in Storer Road and we’ll be reviewing how the open homes event over the weekend of 17th & 18th May went. Part of the funding package for the event from the CSE was the agreement that we will provide evaluation, monitoring and case studies, so at the meeting we’ll review the data that we’ll be sending back to them later in the week.
Then on Thursday 5th June the Food & Gardens group will be meeting at the LAGS Shed from 7pm. The LAGS Shed is situated on the University campus at the back of Car Park No. 5, very close to the Holywell Drive entrance to the campus. LAGS is the students’ Landscaping and Gardening Society and we’ll be their guests for the evening in the lovely gardens they’ve made around the shed. If its a nice evening we may well hold the meeting outdoors. We’ll be discussing the various food and growing schemes and events happening around the area, including what we want to do to finish off the accessible gardening area on the Transition Loughborough Community Allotment. Steve also has an idea he’d like us to consider on encouraging more wildlife patches in local gardens.
In between these two there’s the usual meeting at the community allotment on King George Road from 5pm to plant, weed and maintain the plots. All are welcome to come along, whether you think you’re green fingered or not! And on Friday 6th June during the day a few of us will be gathering at the community allotment again to work towards finishing the accessible planting area and setting up a frame for “World Foods” growing area.
Also advance notice that on Wednesday 11th June there will be the next meeting of the Transport Group. This will take place at Sue’s house again (email for location details if you’re interested in attending) and we’ll be collecting together information people have gathered on sustainable transport options among other topics. There are also plans afoot to have a stall at the Picnic in the Park on 14th June and then a fund raising stand at the Quorn car boot sale on Sunday 15th June, for which dontated items to sell will be most welcome.
So lots happening on all Transition Loughborough fronts over the next few weeks – hopefully a bit of something for everyone to help get involved with!
