Harvest Weekend

We are marking a successful year of growing fruit, vegetables and flowers with a harvest festival celebration. Please feel free to join us for different events throughout the day. All welcome

 

Friday 25th October

Harvesting on Campus: Help gather the first fruits of Fruit Routes and find out where the fruit trees are on campus. Starting at 10am at the shed and all day – phone or text 0784 9073394 to find out where to join in.

 

Apple Pressing at the Shed*: Join in with pressing fresh campus apples to make delicious juice and cider with Transition Loughborough’s apple press. Bring a bottle to fill with juice.

 

Saturday 26th October

12.30: Back to Back Lunch Time Walk: Experience the Fruit Route in different ways – find out more about wild food in autumn on the Fruit Route and … invited guests (tbc).

1.45 Soup and bread at the LAGS Shed*: As the Fruit Routes trees mature, we need to make sure they are cared for and harvested. This is a chance to find out more about this project, becoming a friend of the Fruit Route and meet LAGS students and interested members of the community.

1.30-6.00: Apple pressing at the Shed*You can bring your own apples and bottles to fill.

2.30-4.00 Chutney and Samosa Making: Learn to make different chutneys from the harvested fruit with members of LAGS. Bring a jar to take some produce home. Taste jams and jellies we made at LAGS.

2.30-6.00 Celebrate harvest: Carve a pumpkin, make a lantern and help prepare the feast.

6.00 onwards Harvest party with bonfire, live music from world band ‘Solana’, local food and drink …

East Your Campus is Fruit Routes & Landscaping & Gardening Society (LAGS) working together to celebrate and learn about food growing and foraging on campus.

*The Shed is next to the LAGS garden, Car Park 5, Loughborough University Campus.
