The Transition Loughborough Community Allotment has had a small shed donated by B&Q and a green house recovered via the local Freecycle group. This weekend we hope to get together to help each other erect these on the plots, as well as press on with digging over the beds on the site.
On Friday 5th April from 10am we’ll be doing the shed raising. Its not a large shed and so hopefully this should only take us a couple of hours to get set up. Therefore we’ll probably finish up at lunchtime, though folk are welcome to stay long if they wish! Some folk will also hopefully be working on the base for the greenhouse to sit on.
Then on Sunday 7th April from 10am we’ll be attempting to get the framework of the greenhouse bolted together. The greenhouse is larger than the shed, has more components and also we don’t have any instructions! This is likely to result in us spending a good few hours working on the jigsaw – we’ll probably finish up early afternoon.
All are welcome to come along and lend a hand. Even if you can only come for half an hour pop along and see what we’re doing! Please bring any spades & forks you may have and wear sensible footwear for a muddy allotment (ie work boots or wellies).
The community allotment plots are found in the allotment site access through the five bar gate on the corner of King George Road, Loughborough (see our map).
