Local food production, distribution and usage is an important part of Transition Town planning. We need to make more use of the resources close to us, rather than just relying on long distribution chains to bring our food together from all over the world.
To help celebrate and promote local food we’re holding a celebration of local food products at the Delice Deli cafe in Baxter Gate, Loughborough. Laurent and Sharon who run the Deli are very keen on local food and try to source lots of products both for their own use in the meals they prepare and also to sell to people to help support local producers. They are already a popular stop off for shoppers in the town who want to grab a light snack and pick up locally sourced flour, honey, etc!
The celebration evening runs from 6-8pm on Saturday 6th April with an entry price per head is £10. This ticket price covers one of Laurent’s buffet meals showcasing some of the local products available and complemented with the Deli’s delicious cakes as a dessert. Vegetarian options will be available (please indicate if you require vegetarian when you book) and drinks are charged separately.
To book your place at the event, please pop into the Deli and speak to one of the staff there before April 4th. Come along and support local food whilst socialising with other likemind folk!
