The Transition Loughborough Food Group are having their first general meeting next week, at 8pm in the back room of the Swan in the Rushes pub in Loughborough. The group have already got a number of projects underway, including the apple press funded by a Charnwood Borough Council grant. That will be attending a number of events around the area in late summer/early autumn to help encourage people to make use of the apples that grow on local trees and which would otherwise go to waste.
The forthcoming meeting will discuss plans for the fruit press, community orchard ideas and ways to help people in the town grow their own fruit and veg in their gardens. So if you’re interested in local food production, back garden farming and sustainable agriculture in and around Loughborough, why not come along and join in?
